Anthony's Pier 4 Delft Trivet

Anthony's Pier 4 Delft Trivet

Ifyou lived near Boston and you had something to celebrate you went to Anthony's Pier 4.  By the early 1980's the restaurant was grossing about $12 million annually making it one of the highest grossing restaurants in the United States.  We went on special occasions and enjoyed the famous popovers served by the wait staff dressed in colonial dress from wicker baskets with long tongs.

Whitey Bulger mudered two people in the Anthony's parking lot and during the blizzard of 1978 the S.S. Peter Stuyvesant listed and sank next to the pier.  The remains of the vessel were left in the harbor beside the pier until February 2017, when it was recovered and scrapped.  This Delft tile depicts both Anthony's and that riverboat.

On a personal note, my now husband applied for a summer job at Anthony's Sister restaurant in Cummequid on the Cape.  He didn't get the job and because of that I met him....
